Holy F bomb!!

Hello everyone, I'm back to comment on our favorite train of misery, the Detroit Lions. It's only coming up on the third week of preseason, and I've already almost had a stroke on three separate occasions.

Stroke #1: Special teams beyond meltdown! How did Stan Kwan survive the off season house cleaning? "Completely fucked" is the only way to describe the Lions' special teams play, since he took over. And on Saturday, they almost gave me a fucking stroke!! Horrible in every way.

Stroke #2: Why is Aveon Cason still on this fucking football team!!! Not once have I ever said the words: "Wow! That was a great play by Cason!". Never! And he's been on this team for FOUR FUCKING YEARS!!! So why is he getting so much playing time returning kicks, and at the HB position, when we have younger players with supposedly way more talent! They should be getting these reps and showing what they can do, not Mr. Cason, the never was. I better see Derek Williams this Saturday, or I swear I'm going to leap off of a mountain!

Stroke #3: Cleveland Browns-offensive juggernaut?! These fuckers hadn't scored a TD since last November!!! And the Lions let them march down the field like they're the fucking Colts!! WTFFFF!!!!

OK, that's the rant for this week. I don't know if you noticed, but this is now an R rated blog. I tried to be a pro, and refrain from swearing, but it's just fucking impossible with this team.

Things I'd to see this week:
Sign TJ Duckett
CUT AVEON CASON!!!
And how about some tackling in this weeks game?
FUCK!!!

Proof of New Lion's Logo!!

Clue #1: The Lion's have slashed prices on all merchandise on the team website.
Clue#2: Team just announced a new 10 year deal with Maingate inc. for exclusive merch distribution.
Clue#3: Recent free-agent acquisition Grady Jackson leaked in a radio interview that he "likes the new colors"!!
Clue#4: The biggest of them all. NFL.com has just released the 2009 NFL draft t-shirts for each team. The shirts have the draft logo on the front, and the team logo on the back. All team's shirts are shown on the website, except for the Lions!!! Where the Lion's tee is supposed to be, it says "image not available". Check it out here.

Obviously draft day is the day we will be seeing the new Lion's look. Way overdue. I hope it doesn't suck.

Culpepper Best Option

A few things happened this week in Lion's football that I must discuss. First, the Schwartz completed signing his coaching staff, which included his LB coach from the Titans, and the offensive coordinator from the U of Washington as a positional assistant. I don't know if this is good. I just thought I'd mention it.

After completing his staff he re-signed Steven Peterman at the RG position, re-signed Jason Hanson to a 4 year deal ( this should insure he retires as a career Lion), and restructured Culpepper's contract. Peterman performed OK, and we currently have no one better on the roster, so I guess this was a good move. Hanson was going to get the franchise tag, because every other scheduled free agent was so pathetic, they could never justify franchising someone else. Finally, Culpepper was to recieve a roster bonus in March, and the restructure moves this bonus to July, just before training camp. This really doesn't mean anything as for as his position on the depth chart, but in my opinion, he is the best chance we have at winning games. Even if a QB is drafted at a high position, Daunte needs to be the starting QB of this team.

This weekend is the scouting combine, so I'll have a video for you next week talking about everything that went on there. Also, I heard today that the Schwartz and Mayhew have talked to Jeff Backus about a possible move to LG?!? Which means a possible new LT coming into the mix?!? Maybe in the draft?!? One more thing. I've been watching some video of Kansas State QB Josh Freeman. Big guy (6'6"-250) with a big arm, and very mobile. Remind you of someone? He's a junior, but is a 3 year starter, improving each season. If the Lions were going to take a QB in the first round, this guy at the 20th pick I could live with. Best O-lineman/D-lineman with the 1st pick, and then Freeman at the 20th would not be bad. He wouldn't require a monster contract, and you wouldn't feel bad about sitting him a year. Care to comment?

No Logo Change This Year

David Birkett of the Oakland Press reported Tuesday that there will be no Lion's uniform/logo change for the upcoming season, but possibly for the 2010 season. Apparently all changes must be submitted to the league the previous November. At Monday night's "Town Hall Meeting" Tom Lewand said "stay tuned" when referring to a replacement for "Bubbles", the leaping lion. Well, I can't effing wait!
